Job summary

Northland Properties in North Vancouver is seeking a Manager, Facilities Maintenance to lead carpenters, plumbers, painters and maintenance staff across all facilities. The role ensures safe operations, budgeting, and timely project delivery in a mountain resort environment.

The ideal candidate oversees construction and renovations, coordinates with project managers, upholds the Canadian Building Code, and drives high-quality service while managing schedules and staff performance.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman certificate related to building trades.
  • Water Treatment Certification, Level 3 or higher.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years work experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Building Code required.
  • Previous construction and project management an asset.
  • Microsoft Office skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and other specifications and technical information.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction and renovation of structures from ground excavation to finishing work.
  • Maintain fire systems in all buildings and portable equipment.
  • Advise project managers on maintenance plan designs.
  • Develop project budgets with the project manager and maintain targets.
  • Prepare annual financial plan with the director of Maintenance and Facilities.
  • Order parts, supplies and equipment following procedures.
  • Provide input to the preventative maintenance system.
  • Schedule facilities staff and ensure safe work practices.
  • Hire, orient, train, coach, and evaluate staff in the Facilities department.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of the water treatment plant.
  • Maintain records and provide reports when required.

Job Summary

The Facilities Manager is responsible for all facilities at Grouse Mountain. The Manager oversees a team of carpenters, plumbers, painters and other various maintenance staff.

Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for the construction and renovation of structures from ground excavation to all finishing work.
  • Maintains Fire systems in all buildings and portable equipment
  • Works closely with project Managers to provide advice and guidance to construction or maintenance plan designs
  • Develops project budgets in conjunction with project manager and maintains project targets
  • Prepares and implements with the director of Maintenance and Facilities an annual financial plan
  • Follows procedures in place to order parts, supplies and equipment for projects and normal operating expenses
  • Provides input to the preventative maintenance system
  • Ensures and enforces that all facilities staff follow safe work procedures and follow company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the scheduling of all facilities staff
  • Maintains and upkeeps all kitchen equipment
  • Maintains and meets all budget targets
  • Responsible hiring, orientation, training, coaching, performance management, and administrative duties required for the Facilities department
  • Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the water treatment plant
  • Maintains records and provides reports when required
  • Other duties as required.
  • Supervisory Responsibility

    Directly provides supervision to team of Carpenters, Plumbers, Painters, Apprentices and Maintenance Helpers.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

    • Water Treatment Certification, Level 3 or higher

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    This position is a full-time, year-round leadership role. On-site presence required; may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as resort operations demand. Indoor and outdoor work environments, including exposure to mountain weather conditions.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    $90,000 to $110,000 annually
