Job summary

Wilfrid Laurier University in Brantford is seeking a dedicated Custodian/Maintenance professional to help keep university facilities clean, safe and functional. You will perform a wide range of custodial duties, maintain fixtures, and support event setups while following infection control and safety procedures.

The role requires flexibility to handle seasonal maintenance, snow removal, and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in custodial duties
• Knowledge of the safe application of chemicals and products used in cleaning and sanitizing
• General knowledge of the techniques, tools and materials used in performing custodial tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties to keep assigned building and facilities clean and in good condition
• Polish floors, walls, windows, furniture, washrooms and fixtures
• Empty waste containers and recycling bins, remove waste
• Vacuum carpets and remove garbage from floors and fixtures
• Clean light fixtures; replace lights and bulbs as necessary
• Move, arrange, and set up classroom and office equipment, supplies, and furniture; inventory equipment and furniture
• Request supplies to maintain adequate levels at all times
• Compliance with infection control and cleaning procedures and safe chemical handling
• Perform maintenance tasks for facilities as needed
• Open and close buildings as required
• Maintain grounds including weeding, parking lot maintenance, landscaping, snow removal
• Perform minor drywall patching and painting
• Other duties as required
