Job summary

Give & Go Prepared Foods Corp. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance professional to oversee operation, maintenance and repair of Canadian facilities and grounds, providing technical support to Operations, HSE, QA and Engineering teams.

The role is based in the GTA with a day shift (7AM-3PM) and requires coordinating with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable facilities, GMP compliance and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist Facilities Maintenance Manager in developing building systems maintenance policies, practices, and procedures; assign, prioritize and supervise work duties to meet schedules
• Identify and address deferred maintenance and renewal of building systems at Give & Go sites
• Organize and conduct training for Maintenance on operation and maintenance of facilities systems
• Develop and present proposals to improve reliability and cost savings
• Safely operate facilities systems to provide specified and reliable environmental conditions and utilities to production, packaging, warehouse, laboratory, and office areas
• Troubleshoot, coordinate services to repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify and install systems in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Engineering, contractors and owners
• Obtain quotes from vendors and secure PO approvals; compile and maintain documentation for completed work
• Audit operational effectiveness and preventive maintenance programs; participate in health and safety and sustainability initiatives
• Support capital initiatives and work with cross-functional teams to ensure GMP compliance and safety standards
• Perform other duties within the Engineering department as required
• Follow health and safety programs and wear required PPE; report hazards or unsafe conditions
• Ensure food safety and SQF program adherence across facilities
• Provide data analysis on building systems and respond to internal and external information requests
• Assist on service contracts and external providers; maintain records and performance metrics

Job Overview

Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of Give & Go Canadian facilities and grounds and will provide technical support to the Operations, Maintenance, Health Safety & Environment (HSE), Quality Assurance (QA) and Engineering teams.

Location: GTA

Shift: Day (7AM - 3PM)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, coordinate services to repair, maintain, calibrate, alter/modify and install the following systems with Operations, Maintenance, Health Safety & Environment (HSE), Engineering, external contractors and building owner/landlord:
    • Roof mounted HVAC units
• Boilers
• Air compressors and dryers
• Building chillers and associated cooling towers, pumps and valves
• Gas fired, standalone heaters
• Gas fired and electric humidifiers and dehumidifiers
• Wastewater treatment systems (Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF))
• Building life safety systems (sprinklers, extinguishers, specialized suppression systems, fire alarm, emergency generators)
• Plumbing (domestic hot and cold water)
• Drains (sanitary, process, storm, grease interceptors)
• Natural gas (meter to point of use)
• Building roofing and flooring
• Obtain quotes from vendors and secure PO approvals
• Compile and maintains all information and documentation relevant to all completed work
• Audits and evaluates the operational effectiveness and preventive maintenance program of building systems in order make continuous improvements
• Participate in Give & Go health and safety programs and environmental sustainability initiatives
• Works closely and provides technical support to Operations, Maintenance, HSE, QA and Engineering teams on the delivery of capital initiatives and programs
• Compile and maintains all information and documentation relevant to all completed work
• Ensure all work is performed in full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), local codes / regulations, Give & Go Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions and established safety standards
• Management
• Assists Facilities Maintenance Manager on implementation of service contracts and managing the performance of external service providers and suppliers
• Compile, analyze, and present statistical data regarding Give & Go building systems and facilities
• Responds to information requests from internal (e.g. Senior Management) and external (e.g. audits) parties.
• Other Duties
  • Perform other duties related within the Engineering department when required

Key Responsibilities (Safety):

• Follow Give & Go’s health and safety program, rules and procedures and work in compliance with health and safety-related legislation and codes

• Use or wear safety equipment and personal protective equipment required by Give & Go.
• Report to Supervisor any hazardous or unsafe conditions, absence or defects in equipment and any contravention of health and safety legislation

Food Safety Responsibilities:

• Ensures food safety and food quality programs and procedures and applicable requirements of the SQF system is fully implemented and are followed at all times
• Ensures there is a trained and competent backup on key personnel position
