Job summary

Baxter International Inc. in Alliston is seeking an Extrusion Operator for the Afternoon shift (Mon-Thu 16:00–2:00 EST). You will run the extrusion line, verify materials, and ensure quality products are produced on schedule.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate the extrusion line and ensure materials are correct for production.
  • Perform QA checks and document results for the extrusion dept.
  • Conduct line clearances and die changes as needed.
  • Package materials (boxes/liners) and prepare for shipment.
  • Set up and adjust equipment to maintain product quality.
  • Support 6S and Lean initiatives to improve processes.

We are currently looking for an energetic, hard-working Extrusion Operator to work on our Afternoon shift (Monday to Thursday 16:00h - 2:00h EST) at our Alliston facility. The following are dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, jumpsuit, hood, hairnet, beard cover, gloves, isolation mask and boots (additional PPE required when cleaning)

  • Involves working around equipment, machinery, and belts

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will play a critical role by running the Extrusion line, ensure proper materials are used, make adjustments as necessary to produce a quality product. Perform all necessary Q.A. and documentation for Extrusion dept. and release of product.

Duties performed on a rotational basis

  • Perform line clearance as needed and perform die changes.
  • Perform quality checks and documentation for Extrusion department and release of product.
  • Make up boxes with liners, pack tubing in boxes, put fill boxes on skids, identify & strap skids.
  • Use of GME to enter shop floor & order raw materials, as necessary.
  • Set-up and make adjustments on machine as necessary to produce a quality product.
  • Support the facility LEAN enterprise journey through the use of tools including but not limited to 6S.

Duties performed on a continual or intermittent basis

  • Learn, understand and apply thorough quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles

  • Demonstrated ability to document data correctly per CA GPP 80.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend Baxter Specifications / SOP’s and determine apropriate corrective actions.
  • Equipment used: Extruder, 4 wheel trolleys, walkie & manual jacks, Q.A. tools and gauges, cutter, coiler, and computer
