Job summary

Mars Canada in Guelph, Ontario is hiring an Extruder Operator to safely and efficiently run all extruding equipment to meet daily production targets while upholding safety and quality standards.

Shifts are 12.5 hours, day 7am–7:30pm and night 7pm–7:30am, with overtime possibility. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered in two payments. A 4% shift premium applies. Candidates require a high school diploma, 3 years manufacturing experience, and familiarity with HMIs and safety systems.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent education required.
• Must be willing to work varying shifts and schedules.
• Minimum of three years manufacturing experience.
• Good math, reading and writing skills.
• Knowledge of computers and HMIs.
• Ability to work self-directed with a positive attitude.
• Familiarity with safety, quality and material management systems.
• Knowledge of food safety, GMP, GHOP, HACCP, SPC.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up extruding equipment safely to meet daily production targets.
• Observe Lockout/Tagout and safety procedures.
• Operate extruders to meet food safety requirements.
• Complete quality checks and ensure compliance.
• Report and address deviations in production or quality.
• Monitor equipment efficiency, downtime and throughput.
• Read and follow the daily production run schedule.
• Communicate disruptions, quality issues and material shortages clearly.
• Maintain equipment knowledge and train others as needed.
• Drive continuous improvement using problem solving tools.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and promote safety culture.
• Take on additional duties as assigned by Shift Manager.
