Job summary

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation seeks an External Accounting Advisor to lead the preparation of the Gross Revenues Statement, supervise audit working papers, and support IFRS-based financial reporting.

Reporting to the Director External Reporting and Technical Accounting, you will manage contractual reporting obligations, month-end and year-end processes, and prep briefing notes for executives and the Board. This onsite role requires CPA designation and 3–5 years of experience.

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation required.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience including financial statements, working papers and controls.
• Experience applying IFRS accounting standards in financial reporting.
• Experience with IFRS revenue recognition is required.
• Experience supporting external reporting, audits and governance processes is a plus.
• Understanding of OLG's business model and gaming industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the annual Gross Revenues Statement and audit working papers, including liaising with external auditors.
• Lead fulfillment of OLG's contractual reporting obligations with internal departments.
• Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
• Support financial statement audits and internal control reviews, including preparing audit working papers.
• Prepare briefing notes and executive materials for leadership, Audit and Risk Management Committee, and Board of Directors.
• Support departments with financial information requests from ministries and external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain cross-functional relationships to ensure proper controls for reporting.
• Review, analyze, and assess contracts for IFRS accounting treatment on a timely basis.
• Support IFRS compliance across Finance lines of business and governance processes.
• Contribute to ongoing process improvement.

External Accounting Advisor

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need someone passionate about external reporting and technical accounting roles, with a strong interest in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and communicating financial results to stakeholders. This role will manage the audit and preparation of the Gross Revenues Statement and related audit working papers, as well supports month-end and other financial reporting processes.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Director External Reporting and Technical Accounting, you will be empowered to:

• Lead the preparation of the annual Gross Revenues Statement and audit working papers, including serving as the primary liaison with external auditors
• Lead the fulfillment of OLG's contractual reporting obligations, collaborating directly with various internal departments across the organization
• Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes
• Support financial statement audits and internal control reviews, including the preparation of audit working papers
• Prepare briefing notes and related documentation for Executive Leadership, the Audit and Risk Management Committee, and the Board of Directors
• Support internal departments with financial information requests, including requests from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming and external stakeholders
• Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure proper controls and systems are in place for month-end and year-end financial reporting processes
• Review, analyze and assess contracts for accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS on a timely basis.
• Support all Finance lines of business and other internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with IFRS, provide reference material, assist implementing accounting recommendations, prepare working papers to support decisions
• Support ongoing continuous improvement in all processes

Education & Experience

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including the preparation of financial statements, working papers, and the application of financial controls and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience applying IFRS accounting standards in a financial reporting environment.
• Experience working with IFRS revenue recognition standards is required.
• Experience supporting external reporting, audit activities, and financial governance processes is considered an asset.
• Understanding of OLG's business model and the lottery and gaming industry is considered an asset.
