Job summary

A leading mining company is seeking an Exploration Core Technician for an 18-month temporary role in Timmins, ON. The successful candidate will handle core collection and ensure accurate logging, maintaining safety and environmental standards. Ideal for individuals with 1-2 years of relevant experience and good physical fitness. This role requires operating machinery and maintaining proper documentation.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in the Exploration field, in a similar role.
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Physically fit with ability to lift upwards of 25 kg.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Responsibilities

  • Collect core from drill sites, open boxes and arrange core for logging.
  • Check core boxes to ensure accuracy of downhole markers and hole identification.
  • Prepare core for logging and collect basic geotechnical measurements as required.
  • Cut or split selected core samples as per standard operating procedure including QA/QC samples.
  • Complete relevant sample forms and deliver samples to lab for analysis.
  • Organize and secure logged and sampled core boxes for storage.
  • Operate forklift as required to move core, samples and other materials.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times.

Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologist, you will be part of the Exploration Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collect core from drill sites, open boxes and arrange core for logging;
  • Check core boxes to ensure accuracy of downhole markers and hole identification;
  • Prepare core for logging and collect basic geotechnical measurements as required;
  • Cut or split selected core samples as per standard operating procedure including QA/QC samples;
  • Complete relevant sample forms and deliver samples to lab for analysis;
  • Organize and secure logged and sampled core boxes for storage;
  • Organize and secure laboratory pulp and reject samples for storage;
  • Operate forklift as required to move core, samples and other materials;
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times, ensuring appropriate PPE and tools are used for all tasks;
Qualifications
  • 1‑2 years of experience in the Exploration field, in a similar role;
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Physically fit with ability to lift upwards of 25 kg;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday;
  • Location: Timmins Exploration Office in Timmins, ON;
