An educational organization in Vancouver is seeking an Experiential Learning Specialist for its Future Science Leaders program. The role involves developing and coordinating science education experiences, ensuring program quality through collaboration with various teams, and facilitating sessions for students. Working as a member of the Experiential Learning Team, the Experiential Learning Specialist, Future Science Leaders Year 2&3, in consultation with their direct manager, plays both lead and supporting roles in the development, coordination, implementation, documentation and evaluation of Science World’s Future Science Leaders Year 2 and 3 programs. Reporting to the Program Manager, Future Science Leaders, the Experiential Learning Specialist works cross‑departmentally to ensure that our STEAM experiences meet high standards of excellence, while building relationships inside and outside the Science World organization.
The FSL Year 2 (Innovate) program is composed of a life science and applied science stream in which students are mentored through skill‑building activities and guided projects. Both streams culminate in a 12‑week student‑directed project. The Year 3 (Implement) program is primarily project‑based. Students attend weekly one‑hour lessons with the EL FSL Specialist and meet with an external mentor twice a month to discuss the inquiry‑based project the student has developed.
The Experiential Learning Specialist works collaboratively with the Program Manager, Future Science Leaders, the Experiential Learning Specialist FSL Year 1, and the Year 2 FSL Facilitators. From planning sessions, preparing session resources and equipment, managing online learning platforms, facilitating weekly sessions, and communicating with students, parents and collaborators, the Specialist ensures the Year 2 and 3 programs
