Job summary

WSP is seeking an Experienced Water Resources Engineer to contribute to meaningful projects across Canada. You will work on watershed modelling, hydraulic analysis, and climate-resilient water systems while collaborating with hydrologists, hydrogeologists and environmental scientists.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and support business development through high-quality proposals and client engagements. Registration in BC or eligibility within six months is expected.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in civil or environmental engineering with hydrology focus.
  • Minimum 5+ years hydrotechnical consulting experience.
  • Professional registration in the province/territory or eligibility to obtain BC registration within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrotechnical designs for climate-resilient infrastructure in Western Canada.
  • Prepare high-quality proposals, reports, briefs, and client presentations.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, coordinate engineering, permitting, construction and financial deliverables from concept to completion.
  • Act as primary liaison with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify and pursue major water resources project opportunities to expand services.

Build the Future with Us – In this Experienced Water Resources Engineer role, you will contribute to meaningful projects shaping water systems and supporting resilient communities across British Columbia and the Yukon. From watershed modelling to complex hydraulic analysis, you’ll contribute to solutions that help protect ecosystems, infrastructure, and people. You’ll join a collaborative team of resources engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists and environmental scientists from across Canada where your expertise will help deliver solutions for natural hazards, climate resilience and water security to support communities and infrastructure.

Your Impact
  • Develop hydrotechnical designs that support safe, climate‑resilient infrastructure across Western Canada.
  • Prepare high‑quality proposals, technical reports, design briefs, and client presentations that support business development and project wins.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and financial deliverables from concept to completion.
  • Act as a primary liaison with clients, stakeholders, approval authorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to the expansion of water resources engineering services in the region by identifying, pursuing, and executing major project opportunities.
  • Mentor, empower, and support junior professionals as they grow in their careers.
  • Support a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across our project teams.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Undergraduate degree in civil or environmental engineering, with a focus on hydrology, open channel hydraulics and related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hydrotechnical engineering experience in a consulting environment, including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
  • Professional registration in the province/territory of practice, or eligibility to obtain registration in BC within six months.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in hydrotechnical engineering with a commitment to ongoing development.
  • Proven experience as a project manager in a client‑facing role.
  • Strong ability to write proposals and technical reports.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, water management/balance analysis, flood risk assessments and mapping.
  • Experienced in developing erosion/scour protection and flood mitigation designs for construction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety and inclusive workplace practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship‑building skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Proven success in business development and client relationship management.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 to $118,900

MB & ON: $81,900 to $112,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81,800 to $107,700
