The Nelson Police Department is currently seeking experienced police officers to join our team. Minimum Qualifications (Experienced Officer Entry):
Applicants must:

  • Be currently serving as a police officer in Canada;
  • Have at least two years of service with a Canadian police agency after graduating from an accredited police training program;
  • Meet all British Columbia Provincial Policing Standards, including medical, psychological, and background checks.


Note: Years of service with other Canadian police departments are recognized under the Nelson Police Association Collective Agreement.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $122,897 annually (as of July 1, 2025, 1st Class Constable)
Overtime is available and compensated per the Nelson Police Association collective agreement.
