GCS Group is actively seeking an Experienced HDD Locator for our Red Deer-based operations. You will take full locate responsibility on active HDD telecom bores, using SubSite equipment to guide drill heads in real time and maintain up-to-date field records.

Ideal candidates have hands-on SubSite experience, a track record with Ditch Witch HDD equipment on telecom/utility projects, and current, verifiable certifications.

The Right Locator Makes Every Bore Better GCS Group runs active HDD telecom crews across central Alberta, and we know better than most how much a skilled locator matters. A good bore starts with good locating — and that's exactly why we're particular about who we bring onto our team. We're currently hiring an Experienced HDD Locator for our Red Deer-based operations, and we want someone who takes that responsibility seriously.

What You’ll Own on Site

• Full locate responsibilities on active HDD telecom bores from start to finish
• Operating SubSite locating equipment to track and guide drill heads in real time
• Working in direct, ongoing communication with Ditch Witch drill operators throughout each bore
• Identifying utility conflicts, flagging hazards, and making real-time course corrections
• Verifying bore depth, alignment, and path against project requirements
• Keeping accurate field records and supporting as-built documentation
• Helping maintain a site culture where safety is non-negotiable

What We Expect

• Substantial hands-on experience using SubSite locating systems — not just familiarity, but proficiency
• A track record of working alongside Ditch Witch HDD equipment on live telecom or utility projects
• The ability to read ground conditions and make confident, informed locating decisions
• All certifications fully current and confirmed valid before your first shift — this is mandatory
