Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Grill Cook to support grill and short‑order cooking, kitchen support, dishwashing and cleaning. This role emphasizes following standardized recipes, food safety, proper temperatures, and portion control.

Responsibilities include prep work, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with customer service. The schedule runs 6am–3pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional early closure Fridays, and a driver’s license may be required for occasional drives.

The Grill Cook performs a variety of food service duties with a primary focus on grill and short order cooking, kitchen support, kitchen cleaning and dishwashing.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Must have drivers license. Other duties may be assigned.

Short Order Cooking & Kitchen Support (Primary Focus)
  • Prepare and assist with the production of hot and cold food items including short order items, and grab-and-go products following standardized recipes and station guidelines
  • Perform prep tasks such as measuring, portioning, chopping, and assembling ingredients
  • Ensure food is prepared and served at proper temperatures and meets quality standards
  • Maintain portion control and minimize food waste
  • Replenish food items and supplies during service as required
  • Follow all HACCP, food safety, and quality assurance procedures, including temperature logs and production records
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations before, during, and after service
Cleaning, Sanitation & Dishwashing (Core Responsibility)
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, pots, pans, and utensils in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Maintain dishwashing areas, garbage stations, and kitchen spaces according to master cleaning schedules
  • Remove garbage, recycling, and compost and dispose of waste safely
  • Ensure all work areas, equipment, and smallwares are clean, sanitized, and organized at all times
  • Assist with deep cleaning and ongoing sanitation of kitchen and service areas
Customer Service
  • Take orders from customers and serve prepared meals
  • Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner and resolve inquiries or concerns
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas, including restocking condiments and supplies
General Responsibilities
  • Represent Compass Group in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner
  • Complete Monthly Inspections
  • Follow all company policies, health & safety regulations, and quality assurance standards
  • Complete required training programs within designated timelines
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen and service operations
About You
  • Previous short order cooking experience is REQUIRED
  • Must have valid drivers license, as occasional driving might be required.
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check
  • Food Handler Certification preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and quality
  • Reliable transportation is a requirement
  • This position will be 6am to 3pm daily – Monday to Friday (closed some EDO Fridays)
