Based out of the Powell Service Division, the Material Expeditor position is assigned a series of commodities and/or services for which they are responsible for assuring that the requirements for these items are filled in a timely and cost-effective manner. Responsible for expediting shortages and ensuring all required items are completed to support assembly operations. Interfaces with Engineering, Scheduling, Purchasing, Shop, and Manufacturing groups.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Document and track current status of all shortages for jobs on the production line.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Shop and Manufacturing personnel to ensure timely delivery of shortage items.
  • Ensure accurate scheduling requirements are maintained within Oracle throughout the production process.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Hold for Disposition (HFD) and lost part requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Process job closing procedures in a timely fashion ensuring all discrete jobs are closed and all material is issued.
  • Collect and maintain data for the generation of Production Control Metrics.
  • Attend weekly production meetings.
  • Follow all safety rules on shop floor.
  • Ensure that the dates from the schedule are met on the expected date.
  • Review open requirements, monitoring vendor performance, and expediting where necessary.
  • Assure that problems relating to delivery and quality are promptly conveyed to the vendor and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assure that orders are entered into and updated within the computer system in an accurate and timely manner, and that all order information is complete.
  • Work on Oracle to analyze data and adjust discrepancies, analyze/adjust inventory levels to coincide with lead time changes.
  • Monitor and notify department supervisors of any shortages on upcoming jobs and jobs on the production line.
  • Upon completion of a job, close the discrete job and correct resulting errors.
  • Check and correct the negative report on a daily basis.
  • Verify parts not keyed at audit gate.
  • Attend weekly production meetings with plant manager (staff).
  • Internal relationships include regular interaction with engineering, purchasing, field service, project management and technical manager.
  • Analyze cycle count adjustments to develop root cause and countermeasures.
  • Coordinate the cycle count and always execute inventory accuracy.
  • Coordinate inventory management process with accounting.
  • Audits stock locations (Field Service and Automation) weekly to ensure orders will arrive on time to meet production requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing / assembly environment.
  • Minimum 0‑2 years’ experience in material ordering, supplier relations, and schedule management.
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
  • Ability to read and understand MRP reports, stock status reports and customer order shortage report.
  • Knowledge in running queries on the Oracle database and proficient with excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
Working Conditions
  • Safety sensitive position in a temperature‑controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection at times, safety harnesses/fall protection equipment as required).
  • Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, 'A' frame ladders continuously and/or scissor lifts while performing overhead work).
  • Working at heights usually no higher than 10 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction.
  • Continuous standing and walking.
  • Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
  • Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs.
  • Frequent use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Continuous standing, walking 50–300-foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
  • Use of a forklift time‑to‑time will be required.
