What is the Opportunity?
This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy in support of DevOps & Enterprise Architecture (EA) ensuring alignment with Technology & Operations (T&O)’s overall strategy, along with RBC's strategy. The focus is on improving the effectiveness of operational content, strengthening engagement across employees, leaders and stakeholders, and ensuring consistency across internal and external communications.
The individual will craft clear, compelling, and strategically aligned narratives that translate complex ideas into accessible content. They will establish and enforce standards for operational content, oversee information channels (i.e. collaboration sites and weekly/monthly employee/manager forums, Connect, SharePoint, etc.), and support senior leaders in strategic planning sessions. Additional responsibilities include managing surveys, analyzing results, and adapting messaging for executives, technical teams, and external stakeholders.
The key objective of this role is to enhance the effectiveness and impact of DevOps & EA content, increasing engagement with senior management, employees, business partners, and on occasion external vendors and clients.
What will you do?
- Develop, execute and maintain a comprehensive strategic content plan in support of DevOps & EA's business objectives.
- Support the VP, DevOps & EA to create clear, compelling, and visually polished presentations for internal and external audiences, including preparation of the DevOps & EA Control Book and drafting presentations and speaking notes.
- Provide guidance on storytelling techniques and communication best practices to strengthen the executive's presence and impact.
- Ensure all decks have a strong narrative flow, strategic framing and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Support the Senior Directors in DevOps and EA with effective internal and external communications across all stakeholders.
- Draft, edit and adapt communications (emails, announcements, talking points, blog posts, etc.) for diverse audiences: executives, managers, technical teams and external stakeholders.
- Translate complex or technical information into accessible, audience‑appropriate messaging.
- Implement an employee communications plan focused on improving employee engagement, including the administration of surveys to solicit feedback and reporting the results.
- Manage and contribute to a robust, current and information‑rich social collaboration site.
- Improve effectiveness of operational communications within DevOps & EA to influence internal awareness of DevOps & EA's projects/programs, initiatives, and strategic significance to RBC.
- Collaborate with business lines across the organization to ensure consistent tone, clarity and alignment of key messages.
- Maintain a keen understanding of DevOps & EA's, T&O's and RBC's strategy and priorities to ensure all communications reinforce broader objectives.
- Manage deadlines and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate delivery of materials.
- Anticipate and address reputational issues with significant potential for negative impact to DevOps & EA and the RBC brand.
What do you need to succeed?
- Must‑Have: 3‑5 years of strategic communications experience at senior leadership level.
- Education and training in Communications.
- Experience dealing with senior executives in a diverse and demanding environment.
- Outstanding writing, editing and presentation design skills.
- Ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling narratives; superior communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experience tailoring content to varied audiences (senior leadership, technical teams, external groups).
- Proficiency with presentation tools and programs.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross‑functionally, results‑focused and deadline‑oriented.
