Job description

For more than two decades, Banff Canmore Foundation (BCF) has connected philanthropy with community priorities to improve quality of life across the Bow Valley. As one of Canada's leading community foundations, BCF stewards permanent endowment funds and brings together strategic granting, community leadership, research, and partnerships to ensure local generosity creates lasting impact. Working across Banff, Canmore, Mînî Thnî, Kananaskis, Lake Louise, and surrounding communities, the Foundation serves as a trusted convener and catalyst for community well-being.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide visionary, strategic, and operational leadership across all aspects of the Foundation. Serving as both chief executive and chief ambassador, this leader will advance the strategic plan, oversee sound financial and organizational stewardship, grow BCF's philanthropic assets and permanent endowments, and strengthen its role as a trusted community institution. A natural connector, they will work closely with the Board, staff, donors, nonprofits, governments, Indigenous communities, businesses, professional advisors, and civic leaders. Through these relationships, the Executive Director will mobilize philanthropy around emerging priorities, steward BCF's reputation, and ensure the Foundation's granting and community leadership create meaningful, long-term impact.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, strategic executive with strong business and financial acumen who demonstrates exceptional relationship-building skills. A creative and diplomatic leader, you will elevate the strengths of your team and build trusted partnerships across donors, community organizations, businesses, governments, Indigenous partners, and professional advisors. As the Foundation's chief ambassador, you will champion and promote its mission through compelling storytelling and meaningful relationships, translating an empowering vision into creative action.
