Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking an Executive Chef to lead catering operations across multiple sites. You will ensure flawless food execution, build strong client relationships, and showcase menu creativity while adhering to Healthy Eating Guidelines.

This role requires at least five years of chef experience in catering and three years in leadership, plus strong HACCP and safety compliance, with willingness to travel within Canada.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years as a Chef with a strong catering background.
  • At least three years of leadership experience.
  • Experience managing high-volume catering.
  • Ability to prepare large quantity of meals daily.
  • Creative application of current food trends.
  • Passion for quality and customer service.
  • Detail-oriented and strong team player.
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Ensure catering food execution is flawless.
  • Develop positive client relationships and ensure overall client satisfaction with service and menu options.
  • Demonstrate creativity with menus and knowledge of trends while following Healthy Eating Guidelines.
  • Follow all H&S policies and HACCP regulations.
  • Oversee staff in their stations and maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas.
  • Ensure compliance with Compass QA and Health and Safety Programs, OHSA and WHMIS.
  • Coordinate frequent workplace inspections and WHMIS training and report incidents.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. Please note that artificial intelligence–based tools may be used at certain stages of the recruitment and applicant screening process.

  • Ensure catering food execution is flawless.

  • Follow all H&S policies and regulations as well as HACCP.
  • Oversee staff in their stations and maintain cleanliness of all stations and kitchen areas.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Programs, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
  • Coordinate frequent workplace inspections and WHMIS training of all staff and promptly report any workplace incident to the Food Service Director or designate.

  • Minimum five years of Chef experience with a strong catering background and three years of leadership experience.
  • You have great experience managing high-volume catering projects and the ability to prepare a large quantity of meals, daily, by yourself (when required).
  • Creative ability to apply current food trends and presentations to menus and food service operations.
  • Passionate about quality and customer service.
  • Very detail-oriented individual and a strong team player.
  • Good client relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends (when required).
  • Able to travel within Canada.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally between sites.
