Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years excavator experience in civil or underground work.
• Experience digging around utilities (hydro, gas, water/sewer).
• Ability to read grade stakes and construction drawings.
• Must be fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators (up to 45T) for trenching, backfilling, and general excavation.
• Install and expose underground utilities safely (water, sewer, storm).
• Work around live utilities with proper clearances and spotting procedures.
• Follow grade stakes, plans, and direction from supervision/grade personnel.
• Load trucks, handle materials, and assist with site prep as required.
• Conduct daily pre-use inspections and basic machine maintenance.
• Maintain situational awareness and safe working distances from other equipment.
• Communicate clearly with ground crew, spotters, and supervisors.
