Job summary

BRUSH Group is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator for its BRUSH Power Solutions Scotland Operations team. The role covers power infrastructure and civil projects across the north of Scotland, with requirement for CSCS/NPORS qualifications and a full UK driving licence. Travel, overtime and away-from-home work are expected to meet project programmes.

Location: Aviemore, Inverness, Remote. Permanent contract. Accommodation and subsistence provided per company policy.

Qualifications

• CPCS or NPORS qualifications for plant operations.
• Experience operating excavators and other civil engineering plant.
• General health and safety awareness on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators, dumpers, telehandlers and other relevant machinery.
• Complete daily plant checks and report defects.
• Load, unload and safely handle plant and materials.
• Work in line with RAMS, safety requirements and environmental controls.
• Collaborate with Construction and Site Managers to meet programme.
• Maintain plant records and timesheets.
• Support general site activities when plant isn’t required.

Excavator Operator

We have an opportunity for an experienced Excavator Operator to join the BRUSH Power Solutions Scotland Operations team, supporting the delivery of power infrastructure, cable installation and civil engineering projects across the north of Scotland.

Candidate should have a CSCS card, CPCS/NPORS competencies and hold a full UK drivers licence. Full training on specific techniques for the types of work we undertake will be provided. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work away from home, overtime or weekends when required to meet project programmes. Projects will primarily be located across Northeast Scotland, Sutherland and Caithness.

The role will involve safely operating a range of plant and equipment across live construction sites, often in rural and remote locations. 40 contractual hours per week. Overtime is paid at 1.3 Monday-Friday, time and a half on a Saturday and double time on a Sunday. Accommodation and subsistence will be provided in line with company arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate excavators, dumpers, telehandlers and other relevant machinery, as necessary
• Complete daily plant checks and report any defects, damage or maintenance requirements.
• Load, unload and safely handle plant, equipment and materials.
• Work in line with site RAMS, safety requirements and environmental controls.
• Work closely with Construction Managers, Site Managers, supervisors and ground teams to complete works safely and to programme.
• Complete plant records, timesheets and routine maintenance checks.
• Support general site activities when plant operations are not required.

What we’re looking for

• Relevant CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications.
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a wider site team.
• Previous experience operating plant on civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure projects.
• A good understanding of construction site safety and environmental requirements.
• Experience working in rural, remote or environmentally sensitive locations.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel, work away from home, work overtime and work weekends when required.
• Experience working on power infrastructure, cable installation, substations, hydro schemes, roads or utilities projects would be beneficial.
