Job summary

University of Calgary's SAS Exam Centre is seeking a Recurring Part-time Exam Support to assist with proctoring, inquiries, and administrative duties for accommodated exams. The role requires adherence to confidentiality and exam integrity while supporting students and faculty in a fast-paced environment. Reports to the Exam Centre Manager; shifts include a weekly Wednesday from 4:00 p.m.

to 8:30 p.m. September–April and additional full-time shifts during December and April exams.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to develop understanding of SAS policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and internet applications.
  • Ability to work in a confidential setting and demonstrate good judgment with sensitive information.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, team-based environment with deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to maintain exam integrity and security.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a supervisor-directed setting.
  • Organized, conscientious, and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, friendly, supportive phone and email guidance for inquiries at the SAS Exam Centre.
  • Monitor service levels and wait times and report when demand exceeds thresholds.
  • Invigilate exams for students writing at the Exam Centre and other locations.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive student information.
  • Assist with receiving and booking in-term deferred exams using the Clockwork database.
  • Report unauthorized materials or suspicious behaviour to exam administrators.

Description

The Student Accessibility Services Team in Student Experience and Support is currently seeking a Recurring Part-time Exam Support.

Reporting to the Exam Centre Manager, this recurring part-time position supports student and faculty inquiries, exam proctoring and entry level administrative duties to support accommodated exams. The SAS Exam Centre provides a centralized location for students with disabilities to receive approved accommodations for writing course-based exams and tests. There is a high volume of work supporting more than 21, 000 tests in addition to email and phone inquiries.

This recurring part-time role requires a commitment to a weekly Wednesday shift (4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) from September through April, plus a minimum of eight full-time shifts during the final exam periods in December and April.

The position works with important documents such as examinations and confidential student information. Current undergraduate students are not eligible.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
  • Willingness and ability to develop an understanding of Student Accessibility Services policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and internet applications.
  • Ability to work in a confidential setting and demonstrate good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, team-based environment with an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; preference given to candidates with customer service or front-line experience.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to maintain the integrity and security of exams.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team while working in a supervisor-directed setting.
  • Must be organized, conscientious, and possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring processes are followed correctly and consistently.
  • Able to perform moderate physical activity, such as walking and standing.
