Job description

he Horowitz Events Centre is looking for friendly and reliable customer service oriented individuals to join our morning Operations team!

This position facilitates the delivery of catering across the University of Alberta’s North Campus, as well as the setup and teardown of HEC events. Our Operations team is under the general supervision of the Conferencing Supervisor.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide an exceptional level of customer service to our clients and patrons
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of catering orders across campus, including the safe operation of golf carts
  • Work towards the successful execution of a wide variety of events
  • Complete event setups and teardown as required
  • Work catered events, including serving, bussing, and maintaining food service protocols
  • Set up and troubleshoot basic A/V in our Meeting Centre
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of event sites
  • Perform other job-related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in the customer service field, with an emphasis on excellent communication skills and working as part of a team
  • Available to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends - a minimum 12 hours of availability required per week
  • Excellent work habits, including strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Basic familiarity with the University campus is an asset
  • ProServe and ProTect training - will be provided free of charge
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 15kg (33lbs) on occasion

This is a part-time position, with the frequency and length of shifts varies depending on our bookings. Must have availability from 6am to 6pm.
