Job summary

Who We Are… The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 116-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15‑day annual summer Fair which averages more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year‑round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. The Events Marketing Manager reports to the Manager, Marketing and plays a key role in supporting the planning, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing and promotional initiatives across the PNE’s self‑produced events and business streams, including Playland, Fright Nights, PNE Fair, and PNE Lotteries. This role also supports promotional activity for third‑party events hosted at Hastings Park venues.

This position bridges strategy and execution, partnering closely with Marketing, Creative, and Digital teams to deliver high‑quality, on‑brand campaigns that drive attendance, ticket sales, and positive brand impressions. The role requires creativity, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, event‑driven environment.

What will you do this year?
  • Develop, plan, and execute promotional campaigns and content to drive gate attendance, ticket sales, and audience engagement
  • Assist in the development, execution, and measurement of integrated creative campaigns across digital, social, web, email, experiential, and traditional channels
  • Lead development and execution of email marketing and website content, including writing, building, deploying, and analyzing performance
  • Support ongoing social media activity for PNE events and promotions
  • Plan, manage, and execute media buys for PNE brands, including reviewing proposals, coordinating creative delivery, trafficking ads, and managing timelines
  • Work with media sponsors and partners to support on‑site activations, including coordination of signage, site access, power, staging, and operational logistics through internal and external teams
  • Coordinate marketing projects across internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery
  • Act as a day‑to‑day point of contact for assigned marketing initiatives, keeping stakeholders informed and work on track
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, templates, and marketing best practices to enable team efficiency and consistency
  • Prepare reports, insights, and recommendations to inform ongoing optimization and future planning
  • Support and mentor junior marketing team members through day‑to‑day collaboration, guidance, and knowledge sharing
  • Act as a go‑to resource for executional questions, champion best practices across campaigns and channels
  • Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Must have a Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5–8 years of demonstrated experience in marketing or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in event marketing or promotional campaigns is considered an asset
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills with a high level of creativity
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners
  • Well‑organized, creative, and collaborative team player who embodies the PNE’s values of Enthusiasm, Evolution, and Excellence
  • This role is required to be on‑site at the PNE a minimum of 3 days/week
  • A valid BC driver’s license is an asset
  • Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check

The PNE's compensation offerings are in alignment with a pay‑for‑performance philosophy that recognizes individual and teamwork performance. The role is a permanent, full‑time position with a typical salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay structures. As a part of the PNE's total compensation package, this position may be eligible for other benefits subject to program eligibility requirements.
