Job summary

Encore Canada seeks a Sr. Technical Specialist to manage setup, operation and teardown of complex AV for full-production events in a hospitality setting. Reports to Associate/Director of Project Management in the assigned area.

You will lead technicians during events, maintain equipment security, and collaborate with hotel teams to deliver superior customer satisfaction while training and mentoring staff and staying current with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of specialized video projection experience.
• 5+ years of event technology experience in audio, lighting, projection, or video.
• 4-5 years of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
• Internal team members must meet training requirements to apply.
• Technical 1-Star, 200, plus half of 400-level event hours; sign-off by DPM or higher.
• New Encore team members must complete all training within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse workforce and senior management.
• Strong customer, client and coworker interface experience.
• Self-starter; works independently.
• Valid driver’s license required for some roles; DOT requirements may apply.
• Must lift 50 lbs.

Position Overview

The Sr. Technical Specialist is responsible for the technical set up and operation of standard full-production events in a hospitality environment, while ensuring the utmost in client satisfaction. This position reports to an Associate Director of Project Management or Director of Project Management in their assigned area.

Key Job Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

• Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of advanced audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
• Troubleshoots technical issues and resolve problems quickly as they arise.
• Complies with all Company security and safety measures.
• Ensures equipment is secure from theft and/or damage when in use.

Customer Service

• Provides excellent service and strives to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers.

Event Supervision

• Assists team with proper security, storage, inventory, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.
• Performs inventory and forecasting of equipment needs.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of specialized Video Projection experience.
• 5+ years of event technology experience with specialty in Audio, Lighting, Projection, or Video is required.
• 4-5 years of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Internal Team Members must meet all Training requirements to be eligible to apply for this role.
• Technical 1-Star, Professional 200 and (1) Technical Level 300 in A/P/V/L. Plus half of 400 level event hours event experience in A/P/V/L. Experience must be signed off by DPM or higher.
• New Encore team members must validate/complete all Training requirements within 60 days of hire date.
• Ability to interact professionally and effectively with a diverse work force, customer base and senior level management.
• Strong customer, client and coworker interface experience and abilities.
• Self-starter/works independently.
• A valid driver’s license is required for team members in positions that may operate Company vehicles. Additional DOT requirement may need to be met if applicable.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Hourly Pay Range:

$36.00 - $42.00

The compensation offered for this role is determined based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting for the specified location. Final compensation is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant work experience, or particular skills and expertise. In addition, some positions may be eligible for other compensation such as potential overtime, bonuses or incentives.

Work Environment

Hotel

Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based on an individual hotel or a representation of hotels in that city or area.

Warehouse

Work is performed at event venues as well as in a warehouse environment. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in a warehouse environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area. When in the Warehouse, work will be completed in an environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members may use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
