Job Title: Event Planner – Fundraising & Sponsorship
Location:St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce
Position Type:Full-Time
Salary:Annual salary starting at $48,000, commensurate with experience and benefits following probationary period.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an outgoing, dynamic, and organizedEvent Plannerto lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Chamber events with a strong focus onfundraising initiatives and sponsorship acquisition. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and execution of current Chamber events, as well as creating new experiences that support our organization’s mission, drive revenue, and build strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a wide range of events including fundraisers, galas, Business After 5, community celebrations, and corporate events.
  • Manage many aspects of event logistics including venue selection, vendor negotiation, catering, AV, décor, permits, staffing and volunteers, and on-site management.
  • Develop and manage detailed event budgets and timelines.
  • Create engaging experiences that reflect organizational values and encourage donor and community involvement.
  • Align event goals with broader marketing and outreach strategies.
  • Identify, approach, and secure sponsorships and in-kind donations from local and regional businesses and organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and potential sponsors, ensuring fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and recognition.
  • Prepare compelling sponsorship packages, presentations, and donor proposals.
  • Track and report fundraising progress; evaluate ROI and provide post-event reports.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Promote events through social media, newsletters, print materials, and community outreach.
  • Ensure consistent and professional branding across all event materials and communications.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of event outcomes, sponsors, budgets, and engagement.
  • Evaluate events to identify areas for improvement and future opportunities.

Additional Duties (as required)

  • Support the overall Chamber vision through membership engagement, connecting visitor requests to appropriate businesses and organizations, etc.
  • Process payments online and the POS terminal.
  • Various other tasks related to the day-to-day Chamber operations.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of experience in event planning, fundraising, sponsorship development, and/or nonprofit industry.
  • Proven ability to meet fundraising goals and manage event budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and guest experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM or ChamberMaster is an asset.
  • Availability to work evenings or weekends as required for events.

Working Conditions:

  • In-office setting with occasional travel for off-site events, sponsor and committee meetings.
  • Ability to lift or carry event materials (up to 30 lbs).
