Event Operations Manager (Banquet Operations)

Reporting to the Director of Event Operations, this leadership position will help oversee the day-to-day execution of all events within the newly renovated Event space at the hotel, the executive boardroom on the Penthouse level and multiple off‑site catering events throughout the year.

  • Oversee the daily event operations in the hotel by adhering to established policies, procedures, and client Banquet Event Orders.
  • Manage the service colleagues (Servers and Porters) and Event Operations Supervisors during your shift to ensure event execution at a luxury level.
  • Support the development and enhancement of service standards by meticulously managing departmental Standard Operating Procedures and paying exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strengthen the leadership abilities of Event Operations Supervisors, fostering skills in decision‑making, performance management, function planning, process analysis, and building a sense of urgency and ownership.
  • Foster effective communication and collaborative relationships with all Leaders, Colleagues, and Supervisors within the Event Operations Department.
  • Evaluate procedures, policies, and operational methods regularly, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Contribute to the department's financial success by monitoring productivity, revenue, and costs, and proactively implementing suitable programs or procedures.
  • Coordinate with other Food and Beverage departments to ensure resource sharing and unified operations across the division.
  • Ensure all departmental equipment, fixtures, and furniture are well‑maintained and used safely.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the department, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety standards.
  • Operate in compliance with the Collective Agreement, being well‑versed in its articles and maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Meet or exceed all targeted objectives related to our organizational pillars.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Event Operations (Banquets) Manager, or 2+ years as an Assistant Event Operations (Banquets) Manager, ideally in a luxury hotel environment.
  • Post‑secondary degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management is an asset.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated skill in delegating tasks to team members and ensuring successful completion.
  • Strong, proven leadership abilities and effective management skills.
  • Experience in a unionized work environment is a definite asset.
  • ProServe certification is required.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
