ROLE OVERVIEW :

The Sr. Plastic Technician is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing daily operations of plastic molding processes, including blow molding, injection molding, and extrusion.

Evening Shift
  • 3pm-11 : 30pm
Key Responsibilities
  • Independently set up, monitor, and troubleshoot extrusion blow molding and injection molding machines to ensure consistent production performance and minimize downtime.
  • Operate with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment to make process decisions.
  • Adjust process parameters based on product specifications and historical data to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and assist the Maintenance Department with complex machinery issues.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify root causes of production problems and implement solutions.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including cycle time optimization.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation, including equipment logs, process changes, downtime causes, and maintenance history.
  • Support quality control initiatives by performing inspections using calipers, optical comparators, and other testing methods.
  • Work with engineering and quality teams to resolve operational issues and improve production processes.
  • Provide feedback on mold design and assist tool and die makers in optimizing molds for cycle time and quality.
  • Incorporate and maintain safety observances, including, but not limited to, use of all PPE by employees, ensure guards and safety features are in place and working daily; maintain and display good safety practices and habits daily.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Certification or Associate Degree preferred.
  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience in blow molding or related plastic manufacturing processes.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, air compressors, chillers, and PLCs.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine and process issues independently.
  • In-depth understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Working knowledge of UN-DOT regulations and testing requirements.
