Job summary

YWCA Calgary Hub in Calgary, AB is seeking a Program Support Worker to assist women facing poverty, addictions, violence, mental health challenges and homelessness. You will provide day-to-day operational and emotional support, helping residents move toward housing stability in a trauma-informed team.

This full-time role (37.5 hours/week), with weekday evening shifts 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., emphasizes safety, advocacy, documentation, and coordination with Case Managers to ensure holistic care.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Services, Social Work, or equivalent.
• 1-2 years' experience in a shelter setting is preferred.
• Training in trauma-informed care, gender-based violence, and crisis intervention is advantageous.
• Experience with vulnerable populations and strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that respects diverse identities and lived experiences.
• Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships with clients and provide consistent support.
• Assist clients in handling emotional distress and crises using grounding and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to crises with appropriate interventions and access emergency supports when needed.
• Support clients in identifying needs, goals, and accessing services via referrals and advocacy.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including shift notes and case notes.
