Job summary

FedEx Freight Canada is hiring a Freight Handler to move freight between dock areas and trailers on a Monday through Friday shift from 16:00 to 20:00. You will operate forklifts and manual equipment, verify freight documents, secure loads, and assist customers with paperwork.

The role requires adherence to laws and company policies in a busy dock environment. Prior dock experience or a high school diploma is needed; forklift experience is required and a forklift certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent or years dock experience.
• Forklift operation experience, required.
• Valid forklift certificate preferred.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and dock plates repeatedly.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies.
• Verify documentation matches freight description, including type and weight, using current systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
