Job summary

Queen City Excavating Inc. is a growing civil construction contractor focused on underground piped utilities and earthworks. We are seeking a career-oriented estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Regina.

You will review drawings, specifications, and tender documents, collaborate with project teams, perform quantity takeoffs with Bluebeam and Agtek, and prepare detailed Excel-based estimates for bids and proposals.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction estimating; no minimum required.
• Knowledge of earthworks, underground utilities, grading, and site development.
• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of construction means & methods.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
• Industry experience or Technology Diploma or Engineering Degree acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Review and prepare change order estimates, collaborating with project teams.
• Perform quantity takeoffs (Bluebeam, Agtek are the tools we use).
• Prepare detailed estimates, bid summaries, and proposals (excel based estimates).
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Analyze labour, equipment, material, and production costs.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs.
• Identify tender risks & tender opportunities.
• Coordinate with operations teams.
• Collaborate with the lead estimator and/or operations on large tenders.

We are looking for a career-oriented person that's motivated to succeed and has detail-oriented approach to estimating.

This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, as well as working collaboratively on larger tenders.

• Competitive salary based on experience (salary range is $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and ability)
