Qualifications

Job description
ESG Database Specialist

Location: Canada, Primary Location: Cote Gold Sudbury Office. The ESG Database Specialist will play an important role in managing the overall health of the Environment, Social and Governance department’s databases. In this role, the candidate will maintain environmental databases related to monitoring, track and report various metrics in support of sustainability reporting and maintain detailed records of engagement in support of social performance programs. The candidate will also be required to perform relief Environmental Technologist field duties.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
Area 1 – Manage ESG department databases
  • Ensure that all Environmental, Social and Governance data is suitably transferred and validated, as well as securely retained in the relevant databases.
  • Modify and update the environmental database structures as required by internal and external requirements.
  • Enter stakeholder and Indigenous engagement records and run reports as required.
  • Ensure data integration, import, export and transmittal.
  • Perform QAQC and approve field data entries and sample results.
  • Manage monitoring data including data entry and quality assurance.
  • Collect data and perform analysis as needed.
  • Support report generation using various databases and systems that facilitate decision-making.
  • Provide other support to the ESG department as required.
Area 2 – Support site operations
  • Provide support and assistance to the field monitoring programs from time to time (during peak seasons).
  • Produce diagrams and figures to support reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental field reports/memos and online reporting functions as they pertain to data management requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications Or Equivalents: Post‑secondary degree in Environmental Sciences/Studies, Biology, Geography, Geology, or Indigenous Studies.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in data management.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Environmental or Community Relations experience in the mining industry would be an asset.

  • Excellent inter‑personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when working with data.
  • Innovative thinking and ability to work under pressure.
  • Must have experience in working in diverse cultures.
  • Good knowledge of IT infrastructure and database administration (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting.
  • Very good knowledge of stakeholder records management systems, environmental database systems, GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS) and Power BI.
  • Training can be provided to the successful candidate.
