We are looking for an enthusiastic Emergency Support Worker to cover Day, Evening, Night, Extended & Weekend shifts. The shift is not guaranteed and the role is casual with call‑ins.

About the Role

Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to this care philosophy. The Emergency Department Support Worker performs a variety of tasks that enhance the overall functioning of the department.

Qualifications
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Related healthcare courses
  • Current certification in CPR
  • Significant patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
  • Knowledge of Emergency Department functions and patient care supplies, equipment, instruments and sterile techniques
  • Ability to assist / move patients by wheelchair or stretcher
  • Proven track record of compliance with the Code of Conduct
  • Organized, self‑motivated team player with excellent customer service skills
Responsibilities Include
  • Transporting stable patients to other departments for admission or diagnostic tests
  • Assisting patients to dress, undress and ambulate
  • Fitting patients with crutches and teaching crutch walking
  • Answering call bells
  • Making forearm plaster splints, applying slings and finger splints
  • Setting up sterile trays and assisting the physician with minor surgical procedures (e.g., suturing, I & D)
  • Taking specimens to the Lab, restocking the department, ordering patient care supplies and checking equipment
  • Dismantling procedure trays and cleaning soiled instruments
Salary Range

$29,422 to $29,882

All offers of employment are conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (CRC) and full vaccination of all required doses of a COVID‑19 vaccine approved by Health Canada. Regular attendance is imperative; all applicants must demonstrate a good attendance record to be considered for this position.
