Job description

Traine Construction and Development (Traine) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equipment Operator to join our team in St Catharines, Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Site Superintendent working to ensure the seamless processing of incoming and outgoing materials and items to and from the job site. Inventory management and vendor relations with shipping companies and trades are essential functions for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedules daily transportation needs and shipments, as assigned.
  • Manages inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools and distributes them to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications.
  • Performs quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for incoming items.
  • Ensures shipments contain proper documentation.
  • Processes all required paperwork and maintains adequate records for reporting and tracking.
  • Problem solves for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveries.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming shipments using the zoom boom or other equipment, as appropriate.
  • Measure, mark and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
  • Cleans and prepares worksites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Erects and dissembles scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a construction Equipment Operator or Shipper & Receiver considered an asset.
  • Current Certification for Telehandler and Skid Steer (prefer certification at hire but must be obtained within probationary period).
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification preferred (OFA1 or OFA2).
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and the tools required in various construction processes.
  • Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
