Responsibilities
Business Development
  • Build client relationships through identifying market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities within the marketplace where Dillon can secure work assignments.
  • Contribute to proposals through budget development and proposal writing.
  • Collaborate with staff across Canada for project delivery, client relationship development, and opportunity/project research.
Technical Practice, Project Management & Design
  • Lead the scoping, development, and execution of environmental permitting and project approval programs, including research, field work, and technical report writing.
  • Support the development of environmental assessments registration documents, compensation/offsetting plans, and related environmental permitting assignments at provincial and federal levels.
  • Scope, plan, develop, and implement assessment programs for a variety of projects across the public and private sectors.
  • Coordinate project team activities, provide direction to team members, and contribute to staff development.
Learning & Development
  • Continue developing technical skills and business acumen.
  • Contribute to career development of less tenured staff through technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations.
Qualifications
  • University degree or post‑undergraduate college diploma in a relevant environmental, physical science, or engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, industrial or regulatory settings, with a specific emphasis on environmental permitting.
  • Valid driver’s licence (Class 5).
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in English; working knowledge of French is an asset.
Experience
  • In‑depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience in preparing regulatory applications and submissions.
  • General working knowledge of various environmental and social science disciplines with a focus on identifying potential environmental effects and mitigation for proposed developments.
  • Expertise in a technical discipline such as terrestrial ecology, wildlife biology, aquatic biology, or air quality is an asset.
  • Experience in public, stakeholder, and Indigenous engagement and consultation is considered an asset.
  • Excellent project management and client relationship skills.
  • Advanced critical thinking, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to project quality and ability to meet deadlines.
