Job summary

Guelph General Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services Worker to perform a range of housekeeping duties essential to patient and staff safety. You will clean patient rooms, handle waste and linen logistics, and maintain non-patient areas across the facility, following PIDAC standards.

The role offers 8-hour shifts with day/evening/night rotation, professional development opportunities, and a comprehensive total rewards package including HOOPP and health benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion or willingness to complete Best Practices for Environmental Cleaning eLearning Course.
• Basic computer skills for use with email, incident reporting, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and to make independent decisions and establish priorities based on hospital wide needs each shift and to adjust to changes in a fast-paced, varied work routine.
• Demonstrated ability to meet high quality standards in the completion of assigned tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, including Emergency Response Code Red, Code Brown, etc.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift, stoop, bend, push and climb a ladder up to 12 feet.
• Excellent hand/eye coordination skills to navigate busy hospital environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and safety of the facility per PIDAC standards.
• Clean patient rooms and surfaces; provide floor care, waste removal and linen delivery/pick-up.
• Clean non-patient care areas including support departments, washrooms, corridors, stairwells, entrances, meeting rooms and offices.
• Maintain Lost and Found, storage areas and assist with room setups.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals as part of a team.
