Job summary

Stantec is seeking a mid-level contaminant site Project Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist/Technologist to join the Saskatchewan Site Investigation and Remediation team. You will work across field and office settings in Saskatchewan and other Prairie provinces, leading field projects with a collaborative, safety-focused culture.

Responsibilities include field sampling, data interpretation, and mentoring junior staff, with travel to remote sites and up to 85% fieldwork during peak season.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or related field.
• Minimum of three years executing field work related to soil, groundwater, and/or soil vapor investigations.
• Prior experience in an engineering or consulting environment is an asset.
• Able to obtain federal reliability security clearance.

• Create and lead a positive safety culture on all projects
• Work with Project Managers to develop field instructions and coordinate field scopes of work with Stantec staff and subcontractors
• Complete SIR field tasks including Phase I ESA site visits, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil vapour sampling, aquifer conductivity testing, and elevation surveying.
• Oversee SIR field activities, including drilling and monitoring well installation, remedial excavations, and other construction tasks.
• Provide training and mentoring to more junior staff as field lead
• Write technical reports including data analysis and interpretation with Saskatchewan Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of and lead the execution of SIR field projects across Saskatchewan and other Prairie provinces.

Your Key Responsibilities

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Dedicated to working safely within established procedures and protocols
• Adaptability, organization, critical thinking, self-motivation, a keen willingness to learn, a love of the outdoors, attention to detail, succinct writing ability, and ability to multitask
• Strong communication skills and the ability to identify issues in the field while working with senior staff to develop solutions
• Proficiency with standard productivity software including all MS Office products
• Additional skills such as current First Aid training, WHMIS, H2S Alive, UTV operator training, water and soils sampling, mechanical aptitude and experience in the field of Environmental Science or Engineering are assets but are not required.
• Able to obtain federal reliability security clearance
• Passion for working in an outdoor environment
• Able to travel to remote locations via air or ground transportation and work up to 12 hours per day.
• Able to travel and mobilize to sites on minimal notice.
• Able to work 70 - 85% in the field during peak field season, including out of town work and overnight stays in hotels or a camp setting.

Education and Experience

This position will involve a combination of field and office work. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Fieldwork may include travel (road or air) and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Evening and weekend work may be required. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
