Overview

We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure all incidents are investigated to identify causes; work with stakeholders to agree on corrective actions; track corrective actions through to completion; monitor success
  • Track OHS data in a meaningful way (accidents, near misses, workplace inspection findings, days lost, etc.); create and maintain KPIs
  • Use leading indicator data to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and to develop department-specific training to address those opportunities
  • Collaborate with departments on their Safety Improvement Plans and develop SOPs
  • Chair / Co-chair Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
  • Lead PRIDE and SQUAD teams within unit and region to enhance Safety awareness among all staff
  • Manage safety training programs for Unit personnel. Track training and ensure material is current.
  • Communicate to and educate all levels of Unit personnel on mandated safety requirements such as WHMIS and other governmental environmental guidelines
  • Ensure that each department manager’s safety-related activities are completed, such as workplace inspections, SQORs (Safety Quality Observation Report) and corrective actions
  • Conduct safety training programs in conjunction with the Senior Compliance Manager
  • Communicate required prevention steps by providing Safety Alerts, Safety, Acknowledgement Forms, and Shift Briefings to unit
  • Responsible for transportation training and manuals to ensure all requirements are current
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
  • Implement and sustain best practices in unit operations
  • Evaluate all new equipment and work processes for risk
  • Actively review and implement safety and environmental programs as developed by corporate headquarters.
  • Develop new or revised standards and regulations and guide OU implementation with subject matter expertise
  • Works with unit to secure full compliance with OSHA (or similar) regulatory compliance.
  • Monitors, controls and drives improved compliance with the Core 5 requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to influence others
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of safety and/or risk experience required
  • Previous in airline, manufacturing, distribution, operations or other fast paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of OHS regulations, WHIMIS 2015
  • Experience in a unionized environment a plus
