Job summary

Grainger Canada is seeking an experienced Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety to lead EHS programs across distribution facilities, branches, offices, and field operations in the designated territory. You will train teams on EHS requirements, provide subject-matter expertise to supply chain leaders, and partner with the EHS Director for Canada to drive safety excellence.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in safety or related field.
  • 5+ years EHS experience in distribution or manufacturing.
  • Technical skills related to safety and Workers Compensation.
  • Experience with safety databases and software.
  • Knowledge of OHS and EHS management systems.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influence on EHS strategy.
  • CSP certification preferred
  • CRSP certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and leads EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce incidents and costs.
  • Performs frequent site safety audits to identify and mitigate EHS risks and injuries.
  • Promotes a culture of EHS excellence and continuous improvement, develops and delivers EHS training, and provides guidance to supply chain leaders and team members.
  • Manage workers compensation claims, return to work, support objections/appeals and liaise with workers compensation boards and return to work specialists to support efforts to reduce recordable and lost time claims.
  • Audits workplace and team member behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent. Manages external audit programs, including COR program.
  • Analyzes safety data to identify trends, recommends corrective actions, drives continuous improvement, and refines EHS processes-establishing and reporting on site-level EHS performance metrics.
  • Supports EHS incident investigations, identifies root causes, ensures corrective actions are taken, and provides frequent status updates to supply chain partners and EHS leadership.
  • Provide timely support for Customer requests (data, clearance certificates, insurance certificates, action plans), managing database uploads, preparing and presenting on customer safety stewardship meetings and conducting site visits.

Compensation

The base salary for this role ranges between $95,200 - $130,900, with eligibility for an incentive target of 15% which is contingent upon achieving both individual and company performance objectives. The pay range above is not a guarantee of compensation but reflects the potential total compensation for this role at the time of this posting based on the assigned job grade. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as geographic work location, relevant experience and individual skills. The stated range is a reasonable estimate and may change over time; final compensation may fall above or below the range provided. Position Summary

The Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety implements and manages environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs for distribution facilities, branches, offices, customer sites, and field operations in the specified territory in compliance with EHS legal requirements and the company's standards. The role helps train and educate team members on EHS requirements and practices and provides EHS subject matter expertise support to the supply chain leaders and team members. This role reports to the EHS Director for Grainger Canada and will collaborate with other safety and security team members across the company.

Job Responsibilities (You Will)
  • Develops, implements, and leads EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance and prevent/reduce overall incidents and costs.
  • Performs frequent site safety audits to identify and mitigate EHS risks and injuries.
  • Promotes a strong culture of EHS excellence and continuous improvement, develops and delivers effective EHS training, and provides guidance to supply chain leaders and team members.

  • Analyzes safety data to identify trends, recommends corrective actions, drives continuous improvement, and refines EHS processes-establishing and reporting on site-level EHS performance metrics.
  • Supports EHS incident investigations, identifies root causes, ensures corrective actions are taken, and provides frequent status updates to supply chain partners and EHS leadership.
  • Provide timely support for Customer requests (data, clearance certificates, insurance certificates, action plans), managing database uploads, preparing and presenting on customer safety stewardship meetings and conducting site visits.
Education/Experience (You Have)
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, field specific to safety or equivalent related experience required
  • 5+ years EHS experience in distribution, or manufacturing organization required
  • Technical skills related to safety matters and Workers Compensation.
  • Ability to work with safety related databases and software.
  • Working knowledge of OHS and other EHS management systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, and influence strategy concerning EHS matters.
  • Skills in relationship development, collaboration, and enhancing EHS engagement.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Registered Safety Professional preferred
  • Certified Registered Safety Technician preferred
