Job summary

GHD is seeking an Environmental Engineering or Science Graduate to join the Contamination Assessment and Remediation (CAR) team in Ontario. The role supports site assessments, remediation, soil and groundwater management, and long-term monitoring for public and private clients across Ontario.

The hybrid workplace allows three in-office days per week. You will contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and gain experience across contamination projects, regulatory coordination, and technical reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Eligible to pursue a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist designation in Ontario.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear project communication.
• Strong organization, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative, proactive, and flexible approach to project types and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support contamination assessment and remediation projects including brownfield redevelopment and long-term monitoring.
• Coordinate project activities with staff, contractors, laboratories, clients, regulators and public agencies.
• Assist with fieldwork such as drilling, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and data collection.
• Prepare data tables, figures and project deliverables.
• Assist with Phase I/One and Phase II/Two Environmental Site Assessments and related records reviews.
• Prepare project-related technical documents and cost estimates.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Supporting a wide range of contamination assessment and remediation projects, including brownfield redevelopment, environmental due diligence, soil and groundwater management, and long-term monitoring programs.
• Coordinating project activities with GHD staff, contractors, laboratories, clients, regulators, and public agencies, including scheduling field work, supporting permit requirements, and maintaining clear project records.
• Completing field work and providing oversight for environmental investigations and remediation activities, including drilling, borehole logging, soil sampling, monitoring well installation, groundwater and surface water sampling, vapour sampling, excavation, and remedial construction.
• Compiling, interpreting, and analysing geochemical, geological, hydrogeological, and laboratory data; assist with preparing data tables, stratigraphic logs, figures, and other project deliverables.
• Assisting with Phase I/One and Phase II/Two Environmental Site Assessments, including records reviews, site inspections, data evaluation, and comparison of analytical results with applicable regulatory criteria.
• Preparing project-related technical documents, including work plans, environmental reports, technical memoranda, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, proposals, sampling plans, monitoring reports, and remediation documentation.
• Upholding GHD and client health and safety requirements and contributing to safe, high-quality project delivery.

What you will bring to the team:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline relevant to environmental site assessment and remediation.
• Eligible to pursue a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist designation in Ontario.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to project teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Strong organization, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
• Collaborative, proactive, and flexible approach to project types and responsibilities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. This role includes fieldwork and travel to project sites across Ontario, including the occasional extended workdays and travel to remote locations. Whenever practicable, assignments are scheduled in advance. GHD provides required safety training and equipment, and reasonable accommodation is available throughout employment.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
• Valid Class G Ontario driver’s licence; a motor vehicle record check will be completed before hire. Access to a vehicle is required to travel to project sites. Eligible business travel is reimbursed in accordance with GHD policy. Reasonable accommodation will be considered.

Assets, Not Requirements

• 0-2 years of relevant experience including co-op, internship, summer employment or project experience related to environmental consulting, contaminated sites, remediation, hydrogeology or construction.
• Experience collecting or interpreting environmental data.
• Familiarity with environmental site assessments or Ontario environmental regulations.
• Experience preparing technical documents, data tables, figures or field records.
• Eligibility to work within the USA.

Salary: Mississauga/Toronto/Markham

Engineering Graduates $72,000 | Scientist Graduates: $65,000
