Dillon Consulting Limited in Calgary/Edmonton is seeking a Junior Environmental Consultant to join our Alberta Environmental Services team. This role offers hybrid work options and opportunities to contribute to environmental planning, planning studies, and permitting assignments.

You will support field programs, assist with impact assessments and proposals, and liaise with public and private sector clients as you develop professionally within our employee-owned firm.

Formación

  • University degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional environmental consulting or related experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Assist in scoping, development, and execution of environmental planning studies and environmental programs.
  • Support environmental impact assessments, permitting, and related assignments at provincial and federal levels.
  • Assist field programs for natural resource, municipal, and infrastructure projects.
  • Contribute to proposals including budget development and writing.
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, sub-consultants, and stakeholders on development proposals.
  • Coordinate project team activities and maintain project deadlines.

Overview

We are currently seeking a Junior Environmental Consultant to join our Alberta Environmental Services team.

This is a new position and is based at our Calgary or Edmonton office. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Responsibilities

Technical Work

  • Assist in the scoping, development, and execution of environmental planning studies and managing, environmental programs including research, field work, and technical report writing.
  • Support the development of environmental impact assessments, compensation/offsetting plans, and related environmental permitting assignments at the provincial and federal levels

Project Coordination & Design

  • Assist with field programs for a variety of natural resource, municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to proposals (budget development and proposal writing)
  • Liaise with public and private sector clients, government review and approval agencies, sub-consultants and community representatives including Indigenous communities as well as the general public and stakeholders on specific development proposals
  • Coordinate with project team activities

Learning & Development

  • Continued development of self, including both technical skills and business acumen
  • Contribution to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications
  • Auniversity degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in a relevant environmental, physical science, or engineering related discipline.An advanced degree in a related field would be an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated professional experience in environmental consulting, industrial, regulatory, or academic setting or related field with the specific emphasis on environmental assessment and permitting for development proposals
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
Experience
  • Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements
  • Understanding the preparation of regulatory permitting applications and submissions
  • General working knowledge of various environmental and social science disciplines with a specific focus on identifying potential environmental effects and mitigation associated with a proposed development.
  • Understanding of the application of Best Management Practices to environmental compliance and effectiveness monitoring programs
  • Project coordination skills
  • Commitment to project quality and capability of meeting project deadlines
