Who we are?

The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).

What is the project?

The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand‑alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design‑build contracts : (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.

What is the Opportunity?

As an Environmental Compliance Officer you are responsible for monitoring, tracking and reporting on the implementation of the Environmental Aspects of the Works to confirm compliance with the project environmental assessment, contractual environmental obligations and all applicable regulations under law. You will routinely review and cross reference project compliance against

  • Various Environmental Reference Documents, including technical reports and assessments;
  • Environmental Permits, Licences, Approvals and Agreements as per Schedule 34 – Permits,
  • Licences, Approvals and Agreements; and
  • Project Environmental Management Plans and Additional Environmental Reports implemented pursuant to the DMCA or TPA contract terms.
Responsibilities
  • Providing technical support and advice on environmental and compliance issues throughout the Construction Period.
  • Confirming compliance with the TGP Environmental Management System (EMS) and associated Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), including incident reports, complaints, and spill occurrence reports.
  • Responsible attending and leading environmental audits (internal and external) and leading the environmental responses to inquiries.
  • Coordinate and respond to Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Collaborate with various TGP Teams to achieve industry leading environmental performance by managing the development and implementation of environmental procedures, programs, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and DMCA requirements.
  • Oversee and co‑ordinate the submission of DMCA required deliverables and ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Track environmental compliance with DMCA requirements.
  • Review, comment and ensure delivery of environmental monitoring reports.
  • Review and co‑ordinate responses to Conformance Review Reports (CRRs) received from the CA.
  • Ensure that environmental monitoring dashboards are up to date.
  • Co‑ordinate the development and delivery of the Monthly Environmental Report.
  • Working with the Environmental Manager and Environmental Inspectors, prepare Environmental Working Group (EWG) meeting presentations and minutes.
  • Assess the accuracy and precision of analytical results by applying good practice guidance or established QA / QC methods.

  • Full‑time position primarily office‑based
  • Office‑based : Don Mills Area, North York Next to Science Centre
You’ll bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies)
  • An undergraduate degree or higher in a related discipline (ecology / biology / environmental science) from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience conducting environmental inspections, monitoring and compliance.
  • ISO 14001 : 2015 auditor or equivalent training an asset
