Job summary

The Yukon Public Service is seeking a recent graduate for a one-year internship as an Environmental Compliance Officer. In this role, you will assist with policy development, issue permits, and review technical information related to environmental management. Ideal candidates should have a diploma or degree in a relevant field and little to no work experience. The position offers a starting salary of 80% of $71,763 and requires a Class 5 Yukon Driver’s License. Travel throughout the Yukon is necessary.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Natural Resources Law Enforcement, Conservation, Environmental Law Enforcement, or related field.
• Coursework or experience in procedure, legislation or regulation development is an asset.
• Understanding of environmental conditions and inspection principles is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of policies and protocols.
• Issue permits and review technical information related to contaminated sites.
• Ensure compliance of regulated activities through inspections.
