West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Vancouver's or Quesnel's corporate office is currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor.

As part of the broader environment, climate and sustainability team, reporting to the Regional Environmental Manager‑BC, you will be responsible for providing technical support and environmental subject‑matter expertise to WF’s operations in the areas of environmental regulatory compliance, environmental performance, and sustainability initiatives. The role will support lumber, pulp, and wood panel manufacturing operations across BC, and the successful candidate will work closely with the corporate environment and sustainability team to steward the development, implementation, and continual improvement of environmental compliance, Environmental Management Systems, and sustainability programs and practices.

You'll do:
  • Provide strategic and technical guidance to Mill site environmental resources related to:
    • Maintaining environmental regulatory compliance
    • Adherence to Corporate Environmental Management System Expectations
    • Performance Improvement in environment and sustainability goals and targets
  • Interpret and communicate environmental regulations and policy changes, ensuring consistent understanding and compliance across divisions
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of environmental reports, acting as the indirect responsible party for follow‑up and issue resolution
  • Monitor regulatory compliance and legal risks, maintaining proactive communication with divisions to identify, elevate, and resolve issues
  • Coordinate incident management activities, including investigation, documentation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and shared learnings
  • In a collaborative fashion with both corporate and site resources, develop, communicate and implement Global Environmental Management System standards, procedures and guidance documents related to topics such as internal environmental audits, environmental contractor management, environmental business planning, environmental aspects, environmental reporting and environmental training
  • Enable a culture of environmental responsibility by fostering awareness, best practices, and continuous improvement across all operational levels
You have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Forestry or similar acumen
  • 10 or more years of managing environmental programs in the industrial sector
  • Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems and Environmental and Regulatory compliance audit frameworks and processes
  • Knowledge of forestry or lumber &/or wood panel or similar heavy manufacturing operations
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships within operational and cross‑functional teams
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing and creative problem‑solving ability
  • Professional integrity and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to travel
Compensation Package:
  • Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $112,000- $128,000, which may vary depending on location, education, and relevant experience.
