Job Purpose / Overview

The Director, ERM Technology Strategy, is responsible for defining and driving the long‑term strategy for technology enablement within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This role provides strategic leadership across the ERM technology landscape, establishing a unified vision for the respective ERM Programs (Stress Testing, Limit Management, Digital Assets & AI, Risk Identification etc.) and associated platform capabilities, ERM Data domain, analytics, and reporting capabilities that support the firm’s risk management objectives. This role leads the development of roadmaps and the vision for the target‑state business capabilities. This includes a standardized and consistent operating model for ERM program‑related activities performed within each Risk segment and how cross‑segment solution designs are developed. The strategy for ERM will focus on driving portfolio rationalization, simplification, business process integration, and modernization efforts across key capabilities, including Scenario Manager, CST, MEP, MyRisk/ERDL, BCBS‑239 reporting and related risk management platforms. The role ensures technology investments are aligned with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and enterprise architecture/data standards while delivering measurable value and operational efficiency. Working closely with senior leaders across Risk, Finance, Compliance, Technology, Data, and Enterprise Architecture, establishing strategic priorities, oversees product investments, and guides the evolution of the ERM portfolio. The role serves as the primary bridge between business strategy and technology design, ensuring that product management and technology delivery teams are positioned to successfully execute the ERM vision. The role reports directly to the Head of ERM Technology & Data.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision Define and maintain the enterprise‑wide technology strategy for ERM, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory expectations, and the firm’s broader technology agenda. Develop and communicate a clear target‑state vision and multi‑year roadmap for ERM business capabilities and the underlying platforms, data, analytics, and reporting solutions. Establish strategic priorities and investment objectives that drive business value, operational efficiency, scalability, resilience, and innovation. Identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and market opportunities that can enhance enterprise risk management capabilities.

Business Architecture & Portfolio Rationalization Lead the strategic oversight of the rationalization, simplification and modernization of the ERM technology ecosystem, reducing duplication and improving integration across risk management platforms. Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Technology teams to influence target‑state architectures, integration standards, and technology principles to ensure alignment with business strategy. Drive strategic business decisions related to solution consolidation, data management, cloud adoption, automation, and advanced analytics capabilities. Ensure solutions are designed to support scalability, operational resilience, data policy and controls, regulatory compliance, and long‑term sustainability.

Product Portfolio Oversight Provide strategic oversight of the ERM product portfolio (incl. related to the ERM Programs), ensuring alignment between product roadmaps, business priorities, and technology strategy. Guide Product Management leaders in defining product vision, prioritization frameworks, and investment decisions. Evaluate and prioritize competing strategic initiatives, balancing risk, value, complexity, cost, and resource considerations. Establish governance frameworks that ensure consistent decision‑making, accountability, regular review and delivery of strategic outcomes.

Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Risk, Finance, Compliance, Technology, and Data organizations. Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders to understand evolving requirements and translate strategic objectives into technology initiatives. Lead executive‑level discussions and reviews regarding technology strategy, investment priorities, transformation initiatives, and platform modernization efforts. Drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, fostering collaboration and consensus on strategic decisions.

Financial & Investment Management Working closely with the BoW planning team and oversee strategic technology investment planning for ERM capabilities, ensuring resources are directed toward the highest‑value opportunities. Jointly with ERM Program Leads, Report Owners or System Sponsors/Owners to develop business cases and investment recommendations that clearly articulate expected benefits, risks, and return on investment. Along with BoW planning team to monitor portfolio performance and value realization to ensure strategic objectives are achieved.

Organizational Leadership Lead and develop a high‑performing team of product management and strategy professionals (currently indirectly reporting team(s)). Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching and mentorship to senior leaders and team members across the ERM technology organization. Champion Agile principles, modern product management practices, and data‑driven decision‑making.

Expertise & Qualifications

Demonstrated experience developing and executing technology strategy within large, complex organizations. Strong understanding of enterprise risk management, forecasting methodologies, financial concepts, scenario analysis, and regulatory reporting frameworks.

Significant experience leading business and technology‑enabled transformation initiatives and large‑scale platform modernization programs. Strong conceptual understanding of enterprise architecture, data management, technology ecosystems, systems integration, and cloud‑based solutions from a business perspective. Proven ability to align business strategy with technology investments and organizational priorities.

Extensive experience overseeing product portfolios and guiding product management organizations. Strong financial acumen with experience evaluating investment decisions, business cases, and value realization metrics. Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders and leading through complexity, ambiguity, and organizational change.

Deep understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, product operating models, and modern technology development practices to effectively partner with technology teams. Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive engagement skills. Strong strategic thinking and analytical problem‑solving capabilities. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 12+ years of progressive experience in financial services, risk management, finance, analytics, business and technology strategy, product management, or related disciplines, including leadership responsibility for enterprise‑scale initiatives.

Enterprise‑minded leader capable of balancing strategic vision with practical execution. Strong influencer who builds alignment across senior executives, business leaders, and technology organizations. Forward‑thinking and innovative, continuously seeking opportunities to improve capabilities and drive business value. Highly collaborative and effective at leading through partnership rather than authority. Resilient and adaptable in dynamic, complex, and highly regulated environments. Strong people leader who develops talent, empowers teams, and fosters a culture of accountability and excellence. Results‑oriented with a demonstrated commitment to delivering measurable outcomes.
