Position Summary

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing risk mitigation strategies related to physical security, asset protection, workplace violence, and harassment prevention across the organization’s operations. This role ensures the safety, resiliency, and compliance of all Gay Lea sites and entities, employees, and critical assets through proactive risk identification, threat assessment, policy development, and incident management.

The ERM Manager partners closely with HR, Legal, Facilities, Operations, and senior leadership to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct enterprise-wide assessments for risks related to physical security, asset protection, and behavioural threats.
  • Manage ongoing site-level risk reviews, vulnerability assessments, and security audits.
  • Monitor internal and external threat intelligence and adapt risk mitigation plans accordingly.
  • Lead workplace violence and harassment risk assessments, including behavioural threat analysis and early intervention strategies.

2. Physical Security & Asset Protection

  • Develop and implement corporate security standards, policies, and procedures for facilities, people, and physical assets.
  • Oversee access control, surveillance, alarm systems, and visitor management practices across sites.
  • Partner with IT, Facilities and Operations to design secure enterprise environments and safeguard high-value assets. for security vendors and guard services.

3. Workplace Violence & Harassment Prevention

  • Lead the organization’s workplace violence prevention program, including policy development, training, and communication.
  • Coordinate the Threat Assessment Team and guide decision-making for high‑risk behavioural cases.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert for investigations involving threats, intimidation, harassment, or employee misconduct.
  • Collaborate with HR and Legal on case management, safety planning, and regulatory compliance.

4. Incident Response & Crisis Management

  • Manage security or workplace safety incidents, ensuring timely response, documentation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Support corporate crisis management planning and business continuity efforts.
  • Serve as an on‑call resource for escalations involving security breaches, threats, or high‑risk employee situations.
  • Conduct after‑action reviews and lead corrective action implementation.

5. Governance, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and risk dashboards for senior leadership.
  • Maintain incident records, risk registers, and assessment documentation.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness, workplace violence, de‑escalation, and anti‑harassment training programmes.
  • Promote a risk‑aware culture through proactive communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coach leaders on behavioural risk identification, conflict resolution, and safe response protocols.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational Health and Safety, Security Management, Risk Management, Criminology, Business, HR, or related field (Master’s is an asset).
  • 5–8+ years of experience in enterprise risk management, corporate security, behavioural threat management, or workplace safety.
  • Experience in multi‑site operations, manufacturing, logistics, corporate office environments, or similar settings is an asset.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physical security systems, asset protection methodologies, and emergency response.
  • Demonstrated experience managing workplace violence and harassment programmes, investigations, and threat assessment processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and crisis management skills.

Certifications (Preferred but not required)

  • CRSP, CHSC, or PCI (ASIS International)
  • Business continuity or risk certifications (e.g., CBCP, CRMP)
  • Strong judgment and ability to manage sensitive information discreetly
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence without authority
  • Calm under pressure with strong crisis decision‑making skills
  • Strategic thinking combined with hands‑on execution
  • High ethical standards and commitment to organisational safety
