Job Description

Supporting the Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Unit, Transfer Station and Landfill Operations section, the incumbent will work with client groups focusing on maintenance practices (both standardization and optimization) and the works management system(s) end user interface (CMMS) standardization and configuration.

Major Responsibilities
  • Administers, prepares and coordinates requirements related to productivity and work quality by predicting and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labour, parts, material, and equipment access.
  • Schedules maintenance activities by reconfiguring workloads in all SWMS facilities and allocates plant and machinery resources, plans labour resources, production processes, and coordinates the allocation of materials and parts.
  • Leads projects, directs staff on projects and liaises with Facilities and Yards regarding the implementation of maintenance practices such as Preventative Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance strategies and programs.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) program.
  • Plans, schedules, tracks and coordinates all maintenance activities to inform management on various aspects of performance, asset lifecycles and the reduction of operational downtime and costs.
  • Maintains and uses CMMS to develop Daily Work Schedule to secure adequate resources to complete maintenance activities.
  • Reviews and coordinates work backlog and resources in alignment to complete maintenance projects.
  • Develops, maintains and monitors programs and systems to identify and meet goals, provide recommendations for improvements to planning, scheduling, stores, data management and job reporting system to increase planning effectiveness.
  • Prepares training course materials and conducts training and demonstrations for users of CMMS applications including, General navigation, it's module and application.
  • Prepares reports using CMMS to monitor and track scheduled, unplanned repairs, and other information for unit's clients.
  • Conducts field inspections, assessments and evaluates conditions of facilities and assets, including root cause analysis, and provide full reports on findings.
  • Assists with the preparation of budget reports and tracking of expenditures, including reporting of statistics related to maintenance benefits.
  • Works in conjunction with the maintenance team to maintain work management system, and to generate statistical reports, department performance KPIs, etc.
  • Maintains all equipment records in Maximo system and ensures that all maintenance works including planned and unplanned works are scheduled and closed through the system. This includes follow up to ensure all labour hours, materials, and necessary notes, are accurately recorded within Maximo, and work request are closed, and timelines are adhered to.
  • Conducts Quality Assurance data integrity checks and produces reports based on findings.
  • Performs and/or reviews research and calculations and analyzes technical data.
  • Prepares, reads and interprets technical drawings and manuals.
  • Provides staff with information for scope of procurement of required material and services.
  • Prepares reports and/ uploads documents for legislative/compliance tasks completed by the unit.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-Secondary education completed in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Technologist Program or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Extensive experience in the engineering technology field including direct experience related to maintenance in a complex process facility.
  • Extensive experience with maintenance principles, practices, concepts and options including all areas within maintenance planning, scheduling, coordination and optimization.
  • Extensive experience with related databases such as Maximo, MP-2, SAP, MS Access.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class "G" Driver's License.
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle and must qualify for the City Driver's permits and requirements.
  • Ability to understand engineering administration processes related to inventory control, procurement and other purchasing procedures, including, tendering and administration of requests, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Ability to provide work direction to other staff.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of computer software programs including MS Office, MS Project.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations that apply to this job.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems including the setup of user definable software for end user use in the areas of maintenance, procurement and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of manual and computerized mathematical calculations used in engineering analysis.
  • Knowledge in the collection, evaluation, analysis of field data related to maintenance management, facility processes and infrastructure.
  • Ability to support the Toronto Public Service values to ensure a culture that champions equity, diversity, and respectful workplaces.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Association of Engineering, Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) would be an asset.
