Job summary

Jablonsky, Ast and Partners is a leading Toronto-based consulting engineering firm specializing in structural design for diverse projects. This role focuses on developing ETABS models for RC, steel, and mixed-use structures, and coordinating with BIM/Revit and architectural teams.

The candidate will prepare gravity, wind, and seismic analyses under Senior Engineers, update models with evolving designs, and support with reports and calculations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Structural Engineering Technology or related program.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a structural consulting environment preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETABS models.
  • Understanding of structural systems, load paths, reinforced concrete, and steel framing.
  • Basic understanding of wind and seismic design principles.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, and CSA standards is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • ETABS experience required.
  • Experience with SAFE, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate within a team.
  • Occasional willingness to work extra hours when schedules require.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update ETABS models for reinforced concrete, steel, and mixed-use buildings.
  • Prepare models for gravity, wind, and seismic analysis under senior engineers.
  • Assist with lateral load analysis, drift checks, and building performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate analytical models with architectural, structural, and BIM/Revit models.
  • Update models as designs evolve and ensure consistency with drawings.
  • Review drawings for discrepancies with models and docs.
  • Prepare analysis reports, calculations, and supporting documentation for review.
  • Gather design criteria, geotechnical data, and wind study information.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and work with drafting staff.
  • Occasionally perform site visits to gather information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update ETABS analytical models for reinforced concrete, steel, and mixed-use buildings.
  • Prepare structural models for gravity, wind, and seismic analysis under the direction of Senior Engineers and Partners.
  • Assist with lateral load analysis, drift checks, and overall building performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate analytical models with architectural, structural, and BIM/Revit models throughout the design process.
  • Update analytical models as project designs evolve and ensure consistency with structural drawings.
  • Update models as structural layouts and member sizes change during design development.
  • Review structural drawings and identify discrepancies between analytical models and construction documents.
  • Prepare analysis reports, calculations, and supporting documentation for engineering review.
  • Gather and organize engineering information, including design criteria, geotechnical data, and wind study information.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and collaborate with engineers and drafting staff.
  • Perform occasional site visits to gather information and document existing conditions, as required.
  • Assist with other technical duties as assigned by Senior Engineers and Partners.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, or a related Engineering Technology program.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a structural consulting environment is preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaingin ETABS models.
  • Understanding of structural systems, load paths, reinforced concrete, and steel framing.
  • Basic understanding of wind and seismic design principles.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, and CSA design standards is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with ETABS is required.
