MDA Space in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is seeking an Engineering Student for the Mechanical Production and AI&T team. This 4-month mandate (jan 2027 start) offers hands-on experience in industrialization of antenna and satellite products.

Work under the Production Manager with a team of AI&T Engineers, participating in planning and improvement activities to advance manufacturing readiness and tooling deployment.

Qualifications

• Must be working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering (or equivalent) with two (2) years completed.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities; bilingual in French and English.
• Interest in aerospace and space environment challenges.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for metallic and composite materials.
• Ability to balance analysis with action and adapt to changing environments.
• Familiarity with satellite subsystems and electronics manufacturing/testing.
• Knowledge of GD&T and metrology; programming experience (Python, VBA).
• Creative and innovative mindset.

Responsabilités

• Analyze and review AI&T processes (PFMEA, risk and delta identification, KPI analysis for production cells).
• Suggest and implement new technologies such as robots and vision systems in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
• Participate in tooling design, installation and deployment.
• Lead DFM activities including mockup design and multidisciplinary workshops.
• Define and maintain manufacturing process specifications and equipment SOPs.
• Participate in program reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR).
• Represent production during ERBs/MRBs.

We are on the hunt for a motivated and talented Engineering Student in our Industrialization department at our Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue office. This is a 4-month mandate (with a possibility of extending to 8 months) starting in January 2027.

Role:

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Production Manager and will be embedded in a team of AI&T Engineers and Technologists. The engineering student in the Mechanical Production and AI&T team participates in AI&T planning and improvement activities for the industrialization of antenna and satellite products.

Responsibilities:

Tasks and projects are assigned in accordance with production needs with consideration for the student’s skills, interests, schooling level, and experience achieved to date. Examples of tasks that have previously been assigned to students are as follow:

• Analyze and review AI&T processes (PFMEA, identification of risks and deltas related to production, analyze key performance indicators of production cells)
• Suggest and implement new technologies such as robots, vision systems, quality control and preventive maintenance tools in collaboration with the engineering and production teams
• Participate in the specification, design, installation, and deployment of new tooling
• Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) activities (mockup design and fabrication, leading multidisciplinary workshops, DFM reviews of flight hardware)
• Define, publish, and maintain manufacturing process specifications (MPS), equipment operating procedures, and functional flows
• Participate in program reviews (Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Manufacturing Readiness Review etc.)
• Represent the production team during ERBs/MRBs

Required experience and skills:

• Must be working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering (or equivalent) with two (2) years completed
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Good written and oral communication skills in French and English (interfaces with suppliers and colleagues outside of Quebec)
• Interest in aerospace and appreciation for challenges related to the space environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for metallic components and composite materials (machining, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, etc.)
• Propensity to take ownership of tasks and projects, be adaptable to a changing environment, and an aptitude for balancing analysis with the need to act
• Knowledge of satellite subsystems
• Knowledge of electronics manufacturing and electronics testing
• Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing
• Knowledge of GD&T and metrology;
• Knowledge of programming languages (Python, VBA, etc.)
• Creative and innovative
