Engineering Process Designer

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Support or designate, this position is responsible for supporting the coordination and delivery of regional water and wastewater projects and programs.

The incumbent will :
  • Prepare and review drawings, specifications, design calculations, and reports, assist with contract documents and pre‑tender checklists, track project costs and analyze data
  • Monitor schedules, resolve technical issues, support capital project execution and handovers and maintain technical documentation
  • Perform Project Manager responsibilities on routine, non‑complex projects, and serve as Deputy Project Manager or project coordinator on complex projects.
  • Lead or provide support for special engineering studies, research and pilot projects related to water supply and sanitary sewerage infrastructure conducted by consultants and / or in‑house staff.
  • Manage internal processes such as requests for proposals and monitoring project status with respect to scheduling and quality objectives.
  • Strategically innovate and collaborate with others to achieve the ongoing improvement of Regional and Divisional standards, guidelines, practices, procedures and policies
  • Maintain meeting records and follow up on action items
  • Adhere to health and safety legislation and corporate policies
The successful applicant will possess :
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering in environmental science, civil, chemical or mechanical engineering or a related discipline (Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Applied Science)
  • Registered with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) for the purpose of future licensure as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or also existing P. Eng. is suitable
  • Some years experience in the planning, design and construction of water supply and sanitary sewerage projects
  • Knowledge of engineering design, construction, and operation principles as well as methods and industry standards related to water supply and sanitary sewerage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Municipal Engineering field, specializing in water supply and sanitary sewerage projects, Ontario Water Resource Act, Public Utilities Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Building Code, Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Experience working with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS Project, Teams, Computer Aided Design and Drafting Programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem‑solving, analytical, negotiation, project management, organizational skills and conflict resolution
  • A focus on consensus‑building and shared decision‑making, as well as working collaboratively with diverse groups
  • A valid Class 'G' Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle
Management & Exempt Salary Grade 5

Salary: $96,282 to $120,353 per annum
