Job summary

Stripe is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact area with autonomy across several teams. You will shape strategy, drive roadmaps, and evolve senior talent while collaborating with Risk, Onboarding, Product, Data Science, and related groups.

This role demands strong product judgment and a track record of delivering scalable API-centric solutions. The position emphasizes cross-functional influence, architectural guidance, and a commitment to reliability, latency, and end-to-end

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 10+ years of software development experience.
4+ years of engineering management with autonomous impact as an EM.
Experience leading high-complexity teams across parallel workstreams.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
Meaningful recruiting experience, attracting and developing senior engineers.
Technical depth to guide architecture and maintain quality.

Responsibilities

Lead with Scope and Autonomy across multiple teams or a significant product area.
Define Strategy and Roadmap, aligning with Stripe’s mission and plans.
Develop Senior Talent through coaching and stretch opportunities.
Drive Cross-Functional Alignment with Product, Design, and engineering.
Hire and Scale the Team, maintaining a high hiring bar.
Operate with Rigor, identify issues, and improve processes and quality.
