Overview

A Manager – Engineering plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities required for the effective management of the Engineering Department, ensuring quality and client satisfaction and supporting fiscal responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise engineering and design, distribute workload, set and meet project timelines.
  • Provide system engineering support and estimating support for workloads.
  • Offer presales engineering to Account Executives and Estimating team members.
  • Develop short‑ and long‑range goals for the Engineering Department in line with company objectives.
  • Produce reports for EVP Technology and senior management covering staff performance, product performance, and project design trends.
  • Assume responsibility for determining staffing levels for the Engineering Department.
  • Establish and maintain productivity standards and communicate job expectations to staff.
  • Implement quality engineering and design procedures in collaboration with EVP Technology.
  • Represent the company professionally to maximize client satisfaction.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Protect assigned company assets.
  • Maintain accurate and timely written records; be available for off‑hour work as required.
  • Interview, hire, orient, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; coach and evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Supervise, develop, evaluate, and discipline Engineering Department personnel in accordance with PTI policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
    • 6+ years in a technical field using electronics or networking theory daily; Extensive security and low‑voltage knowledge; Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized business systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Technical, electronic, or IT associate’s degree; 1 year supervisory experience; 4 years security industry experience; Knowledge of NEC Code and low‑voltage systems.
