Job Description Summary
Position Overview

Reporting to the site’s Director of Automation and Engineering Maintenance, the Engineering Manager will be responsible to lead the site’s automation and electromechanical projects execution for both the internal Continuous Improvement Projects, in conjunction with Plant staff, and the Capital Expenditure Projects, in conjunction with Coca-Cola Engineering staff, while providing key on-site engineering support to the 24/7 operation throughout all departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain deep comprehensive knowledge of the site’s manufacturing facilities, process, equipment and utilities.
  • Lead multidisciplinary team to develop the site’s Master Plan considering business and manufacturing needs regarding safety and environmental compliance, food safety and quality assurance requirements, operating efficiency improvement and cost and waste reduction.
  • Create Project Conceptualization documents for the site’s Master Plan priorities, considering the technical, financial and operational feasibility of the proposed solutions.
  • Generate Authorization for Expenditure documents based on completed Project Conceptualizations and follow the Company’s approval process.
  • Develop Request for Quotation/Proposal documents for approved projects with detailed information for the bidding and selection process of third parties.
  • Issue and approve Contracts with selected third parties following Company guidelines and enforce adherence to all clauses.
  • Manage the construction/execution of projects ensuring compliance with Federal, Provincial and Company requirements.
  • Coordinate the commissioning and startup process with plant staff and third parties, ensuring that full acceptance criteria are met.
  • Ensure the completion of training in operating, cleaning and maintenance procedures to plant staff by OEM, Vendors and Contractors.
  • Consolidate hand over packages including as-built drawings, P&ID, operation and maintenance manuals, mechanical, electrical and control diagrams, recommended spare parts list, etc.
  • Provide remote and on-site engineering support to the 24/7 manufacturing operation throughout all departments.
  • Other tasks and duties as required by the site’s Leadership Team.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Process, Industrial, Manufacturing or similar Engineering.
  • Proven 3+ years of experience in similar automation and electromechanical projects management positions in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
  • Project Management Professional Certification or similar is desired.
  • Previous experience in dairy processing of pasteurized milk and aseptic or low acidity filling systems is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of OHSA, TSSA, ESA, CFIA requirements.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding building drawings, process P&ID, equipment manuals and mechanical, electrical and control diagrams.
  • Capable of working independently in organizing resources, establishing priorities and multitasking under pressure and in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to coordinate with the Company’s multidisciplinary teams and third parties.
  • Good understanding of the operation and troubleshoot of process valves, pumps, regulators, instrumentation, motors, mechanical transmissions, VFDs, control devices, blowing, filling and packaging equipment, HVACs, boilers, air and refrigerant compressors, cooling towers, power distribution systems, water treatment plants, among others.
  • Flexibility to work in different schedules, weekends and holidays to follow project execution schedule, as well as availability to provide remote support and emergency call-in response.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, XLS, PPT).

Pay Range

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
